In a letter to rescue forces, locals and soldiers in flood-hit localities from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien-Hue, the PM stressed the need to evacuate community from risky areas to safer places in a timely manner, and provide necessities to locals in flooded and isolated areas, while resuming production as soon as possible.

The Government leader lauded efforts by the forces in rescue activities and ensuring safety for the affected people, especially students to attend ceremonies to start the new school year.

Showing his sympathies to the administrations and locals in flood-hit localities, the PM asked localities, sectors and the entire society to join hands in effectively dealing with aftermaths of the disaster, stabilizing the living conditions and production of the affected community.

In early September, torrential rains brought by a tropical depression were recorded from Nghe An to Thua Thien-Hue. In many areas, total rainfall rose to over 1,000mm, causing widespread flooding in low areas, leading to heavy loss in human lives and property. As of September 4, at least four people were killed and eight others remain missing in the provinces.

The hardest-hit localities were Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Quang Tri.
