Appraisal of Lang Son as class II city
On January 23, 2019, a conference of appraisal of the proposed scheme for Lang Son city was approved as grade II city. Deputy Minister of Construction Phan Thi My Linh chaired the Conference.

According to the evaluation of members, Lang Son has criteria enough to achieve the maximum score to meet the requirements of grade II urban. The city has a frame infrastructure system including roads, electricity, lighting, communication, sports facilities and works, commercial and service facilities which are relatively adequate, basically meeting all requirements conditions to become a class II city according to the Resolution 1210/2016/UBTVQH13 of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Urban Classification.

Speaking at the conclusion, Deputy Minister of Construction Phan Thi My Linh emphasized the important position of Lang Son as a city with a strategic position in economy, trade, tourism, services and transport transit and national security. Deputy Minister Phan Thi My Linh proposed the Department of Urban Development of the Ministry of Construction to continue to coordinate with the province and Lang Son city to review all data on area, population, some indicators in the project. At the same time it should complete the Lang Son Urban Development Program to have basis elements for implementation.
The Appraisal Council agreed to approve Lang Son city, Lang Son province as grade II city.
